A guide from the Smith Made shop
Plan the seating chart before you print.
A seating display brings together the wood structure, the guest list, and the venue. Confirm how those parts fit before committing to a print size, finish, or pickup plan.
Start with our two-panel Seating Chart Wall, or ask about a custom build. We confirm dimensions and guest-list layout for your project; the styled images are design references.
1. Choose rental or purchase
A rental suits an event when the agreed finish and personalization work for your plans. A purchased custom piece gives us a different scope to quote, including a requested paint color, lettering, or structure. Send an exact color reference with your inquiry. Do not plan to repaint or modify a rental yourself.
2. Work backward from the guest list
Tell us the number of names or table groups and the finished size of each card or printed panel. Include the heading and any decorative space. We can then review the layout against the confirmed board dimensions. A guest count alone does not establish the size of the display.
Agree who checks spelling, table assignments, and the final names deadline. Approve the layout before printing or applying lettering.
3. Agree how the information attaches
Cards, a printed panel, and dimensional lettering need different preparation. Ask Smith Made to approve the exact mounting method for the quoted finish. Do not apply glue, tape, adhesive strips, pins, or screws to rental surfaces without written approval.
If the design needs a removable face, card ledges, or another mounting system, include that in the quote. An idea in a reference image does not mean the system has been included or tested for your piece.
4. Decide who finishes the display
Put each responsibility in the scope: painting, lettering, guest-list printing, mounting, florals, event setup, and removal. For a purchased unfinished structure, confirm the surface preparation included and the work that remains with you.
5. Check the venue and transport
Send the exact venue, whether placement is indoors or outdoors, doorway and stair details, loading windows, and the pickup deadline. Confirm the assembled dimensions, vehicle fit, handling, and placement plan before choosing customer pickup. Outdoor placement needs a project-specific plan; do not assume a freestanding display suits every surface or weather condition.
Compare pickup and delivery costs. Special access and routes beyond 50 road miles from Greenville need a custom quote.
