How It Works

From our shop to your celebration

Weddings, showers, parties, corporate events — any event, any day of the week. We only take what one shop can deliver well in a day. Tell us your date and we’ll work around it.

Pick your pieces

Browse the collection, then tell us your date, your venue, and what caught your eye. We’ll confirm the date is free and send a simple quote.

Step Two

Book it with 50%

After we confirm availability and your written quote, your deposit locks your date on our calendar and holds the pieces for your agreed rental period — plus any lettering or engraved plaque you’ve asked for.

Step Three

Choose your handoff

Customer pickup and return has no transport fee. Or add Smith Made delivery, standard pickup, or a quoted late-night pickup. We confirm the service, access, and route miles in writing before you book.

Step Four

Return, pickup, or keep it

Customer-return rentals are due by noon the next day. Standard and after-hours Smith Made pickup follow the service on your quote. Keepsake pieces go home with you, forever.

Every piece is quoted for your date, size, and design — tell us what caught your eye and we’ll send your price in writing, usually within a day or two. The fine print — deposits, proofs, damage, payment — lives here, in plain words.

Collect by appointment and return by noon the day after your event. We share the exact Greenville-area handoff point after booking, not a private address. Bring a suitable vehicle; the rental damage deposit still applies.

  • Delivery starts at $75 within 15 road miles of Greenville. Choose delivery with customer return or a purchased keepsake; Smith Made standard pickup also starts at $75 within 15 road miles. Delivery plus standard pickup starts at $150.
  • Distance is calculated per service trip. Beyond 15 road miles, add $2.25 per additional one-way venue mile for delivery and pickup separately. Each service fee is rounded up to the nearest $5, and final route miles appear in the written quote.
  • After-hours pickup is quoted clearly. Pickup after 9 p.m. adds $75; pickup at or after midnight adds $125 instead. Oversize or two-person handling, stairs or difficult access, setup or styling, strict venue windows, and venues beyond 50 road miles receive a custom quote.
  • 50% deposit books your date. It holds the pieces for your agreed rental period and starts any lettering or custom work. Non‑refundable inside 60 days of the event.
  • Refundable damage deposit on rentals. $100 (or 25% of the rental price), returned after pickup inspection. Candle wax washes off; we just check.
  • Your wording, approved in writing. Any lettering, engraved plaque, or paint color gets a free proof, and you sign off before we make it. No surprises on your biggest day.
  • Buying a rental piece is a commission. Our statement pieces live in the collection and go out weekend after weekend. If you want to keep one, we build you your own — purchase pricing reflects a piece made to be owned, not a piece coming out of the rotation.
  • Simple, safe payment. Invoices come through Square or PayPal (goods & services). The balance is due at delivery — never before you’ve seen the piece.

What are the pickup and delivery options?

Customer pickup and return by appointment has no transport fee; return is due by noon the next day, and we share the exact handoff point after booking. Smith Made delivery starts at $75 within 15 road miles of Greenville, and standard pickup starts at $75 within 15 road miles. Beyond that radius, each delivery or pickup trip adds $2.25 per additional one-way venue mile and is rounded up to the nearest $5. After-hours, difficult-access, setup, and long-distance service are quoted separately.

How far ahead should we book?

We service any event, any day of the week — and we only take what one shop can deliver well in a day. Spring and fall dates go first — if you have your date, it’s worth checking now. The 50% deposit is what locks it.

Can we personalize a rental piece?

Yes, and we handle it case‑by‑case. Your names and date go on a separate engraved piece of wood that mounts to the sign — a plaque, a nameboard, a chalkboard insert — so the rental arrives personalized to you and the piece underneath is never cut into. We don’t engrave the sign itself unless you’re buying it; deep‑carved engraving is for pieces that go home with you. Tell us what you have in mind and we’ll say exactly what we can do for your date.

What happens if something gets damaged?

Rentals carry a refundable damage deposit — $100 or 25% of the rental price — returned after pickup inspection. Normal wear is our problem, not yours. Tell us any venue documentation requirements when you inquire; we will confirm what is available before you book.

Do you build things that aren’t for weddings?

Happily. Anniversary and “established” signs, housewarming pieces, holiday commissions — winter is build season in the shop. Use the inquiry form and tell us what you’re imagining.
