Smith Made is a small woodworking shop in Greenville, South Carolina, run by Steen Smith. We build carpenter‑scale wedding signage — the kind of pieces a calligraphy studio can’t make and a party‑rental warehouse doesn’t carry: seven‑foot arched walls, seating charts that stand on their own, a champagne wall, a rolling bar.

How It Works
From our shop to your Saturday
Weddings happen on Saturdays, and we only take what one shop can deliver and style well in a day. Tell us your date and we’ll work around it.
Pick your pieces
Browse the collection, then tell us your date, your venue, and what caught your eye. We’ll confirm the date is free and send a simple quote.
Book it with 50%
Your deposit covers the materials and locks your date on our calendar. The moment it’s paid, your build goes on the bench.
We deliver & style
We bring everything to the venue, set each piece where it belongs, and have it letter‑perfect before your first guest arrives.
Last dance, we load out
Rentals go home with us after the reception — you never lift a thing. Keepsake pieces go home with you, forever.
Rent‑to‑own: our signature offer
Any eligible rental can be yours to keep. Half of what you paid in rent comes off the purchase price. Rent the arched welcome sign for $150, fall in love with it over the weekend, and take it home for $320 instead of $395. No pressure, no expiration talk at the reception — just tell us before pickup.

- 50% deposit books your date. The deposit covers materials and your build starts once it’s paid. Non‑refundable inside 60 days of the event.
- Refundable damage deposit on rentals. $100 (or 25% of the rental price), returned after pickup inspection. Candle wax washes off; we just check.
- Rent‑to‑own credit. Keep any eligible rental after the wedding: 50% of the rent you paid comes off the purchase price, up to one event’s rent.
- Your wording, approved in writing. You get a free proof of every piece and sign off on the exact wording before anything is cut. No surprises on your biggest day.
- Simple, safe payment. Invoices come through Square or PayPal (goods & services). The balance is due at delivery — never before you’ve seen the piece.

How far do you deliver?
Anywhere in the Upstate. Delivery, setup, and pickup is a flat $95 within 25 miles of Greenville, then $2 per mile beyond — Travelers Rest, Greer, Simpsonville, Spartanburg, Anderson, Clemson, Pickens, Hendersonville, and Asheville are all in range. We extend the radius for mountain venues, and large builds never ship — we deliver them ourselves.
How far ahead should we book?
Weddings happen on Saturdays, and we only take what one shop can deliver and style well in a day. Spring and fall Saturdays go first — if you have your date, it’s worth checking now. The 50% deposit is what locks it.
Can we personalize a rental piece?
Yes — that’s the design. Your names and date go on in a removable layer (lettering, an engraved plaque, or a chalkboard insert), so the piece arrives personalized to you. Permanent, deep-engraved personalization is what our keepsake line is for.
What happens if something gets damaged?
Rentals carry a refundable damage deposit — $100 or 25% of the rental price — returned after pickup inspection. Normal wear is our problem, not yours. We also carry general liability insurance and can send a certificate to your venue.
How exactly does rent‑to‑own work?
Half of what you paid in rent counts toward the purchase price, capped at one event’s rent. Example: the arched welcome sign rents for $150 and sells for $395 — keep it after your wedding for $395 − $75 = $320. Just tell us before we load out.
Do you build things that aren’t for weddings?
Happily. Anniversary and “established” signs, housewarming pieces, holiday commissions — winter is build season in the shop. Use the inquiry form and tell us what you’re imagining.
